My first two toned blankets

I completed these blankets for two sisters. I think they turned out really cute with ivory on one side and dark brown on the other. I also had a friend of mine request a blanket with coordinating burp cloths. I hope you like the pics.

Where does the time go?

Well, as promised my website has been up and running since July. A few weeks ago I sent out a mass e-mail to friends and family announcing the new adventure. I have had a wonderful response of support from friends and family and have had several blanket orders. This is so encouraging to me! And so exciting!

Currently I have been trying to complete each order within a few days because I never know when the next order will come in. It is truly a wonderful feeling to have an endeavor like this in which I feel no pressure. I'm excited about the mounting number of orders and not worried in the least that they might dissipate. I know that I am completely surrendered to the Lord's will and that I have sought God in all aspects of the endeavor. After all, the proceeds don't even benefit me. They are all Kingdom bound!

With that said, I would like to let you know that I'm considering adding an additional idea to the B. Covered section. I'm considering making a group shower gift in which a group of people (co-workers, small groups, families) could go to gether and buy a larger gift package that would include a personalized blanket, a travel sized blanket a Diaper Bag with a personalized applique that matches the lettering of the blanket, coordinating burp cloths, changing pads, nursing cover, etc. I haven't decided how many of each item nor on everything that might/should be included. I'm open to suggestions. Just post a comment if you have one. I'll include pictures so that you can see something along the lines of what I'm talking about. Let me know what you think, and I might send it out as a special offer in the coming months.
Please visit the post below titled Blanket samples to see some of the recent blankets people have ordered. The most recent ones are at the beginning of the slide show. And keep peeking from time to time. I'm often adding pictures to the bunch.

Katie

I made this blanket for an infant named Katie. She is currently fighting a form of Cancer. If you think of her and her family, please keep them in your prayers. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for all of them. Please pray that the Lord would lift their spirits and continually send reminders of His goodness and mercy even in the midst of this very fallen world.

Blessings,

Erin and Colleen

Our First Event

Praise the Lord! God answers prayers. You may consider this akin to the joke about the luck of the Irish in which the Irish man steps in a pile of poo and considers himself extremely lucky that he wasn't wearing his Sunday shoes. More on this in a bit...

First of all, a gigantic thanks to Monica Clapp, my eyes, ears, hands, feet and the rest of me in Washington, D.C. She is a dear friend of mine who was stationed with us in Gulfport, MS the last time we were here. She did everything we asked her to do for the event and then 10x more of her own ideas. She has since e-mailed me with a list of things to consider for future events and has encouraged me to continue with future events. With that said...

We sold one blanket. But when I look back at the specific things that I prayed for (a wonderful event for the women at the conference, continued peace, and the perfect number of sales that I would not be overwhelmed) and positive feedback regarding our products, he answered all of them. Apparently the event itself was wonderful and God showed up to meet the women in incredible ways. Praise God. I began to feel a little overwhelmed as the event got closer about where I was going to have fleece sent as I don't want to tote it across the United States. I also wondered where and when I was going to begin making these blankets as it will be a while before I'm settled. I am somewhat relieved not to have a pile of orders waiting for me. However, Monica indicated that the response was overwhelmingly positive and a number of factors created a low volume of sales not only for me but for every other vendor at the event.

I feel good about what we've learned from this experience and I feel very optimistic about future events. I am definitely feeling very peaceful about where we are and where we are headed. I believe God will open doors and make connections at the perfect times. In fact, he has already begun to make connections and build relationships.

For my readers who pray, please be praying that God would bless these new relationships. I'm ecstatic about some of these women being brought into my life. This is our ultimate hope: to bless God through relationships with people we come into contact with even more so than through our products.

Our next event is coming up this weekend July 12th and 13th. I'll let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I will be posting some pictures of dresses that I will also be selling at this event. Hannah was gracious enough to model them for me.

Beautiful You Conference

B. Richer Designs is sponsoring a Beautiful You Women's conference in Washington, D.C. this weekend. (www.beautifulyouconference.com) It is our first event in which our blankets will be sold beyond word-of-mouth sales. We're praying that women will be blessed by the event, for exciting feedback about our blankets, continued peace, and only the perfect number of sales that will not overwhelm me when it comes to getting them produced!!! YIKES! I'm planning to update the blog and let you know how it all goes.

God Bless!!

B. Richer Designs joyfully welcomes Colleen Martin!!

The other day I was thinking about how much I enjoy the idea of doing this whole B. Richer Designs thing, but how much more I would enjoy it if i was sharing it with someone. A few hours later I was thinking about how appreciative I have been of Colleen's encouragement and even hard work she's been putting into an event we're doing in Washington, D.C. Suddenly, that evening it occurred to me that Colleen would be the perfect partner to join me in this journey. I called her and we discussed it.

We have both been praying about it, and I believe are in agreement that this is something worth pursuing together. I am so excited to have her gifts and talents merging with mine. I believe this is going to be a VERY positive experience for both of us. And I believe it will mean a great deal of growth on both of our parts, as growth has been an integral part of our relationship history. Colleen and I have a miraculous testimony that we share regarding a tumultuous past. If you ever get a chance to inquire about it personally, please do. We love to share what God has done between us through prayer.

Colleen has a business degree from George Washington University. She is eager to put her skills and gifts into action in a new and exciting way. She is a woman of God and dedicated to prayer, qualities that will always be present in anyone actively participating in B. Richer Designs. I pray that I will grow as a woman of prayer through my experience and accountability with her. What I love best about my products is that I have no personal ambition to make a great deal of money. I simply want to see God's Will be done. I have no idea how B. Richer Designs is apart of his Will, but I do believe it must be as it seems to have taken on life beyond anything I had planned.

A Common Vision

From the beginning I wanted most of the money that was earned by the fruit of my hands to be dedicated to the work of God. I am so excited about blessing God with my work. When I shared this with my sister I could tell that she believed that this was definitely something in which she wanted to be involved. I know that she will be a great source of accountability, and a great prayer partner when it comes to deciding where to sew monetary seeds.

I will be eager to update you about the success of this partnership and events that occur along the way.

Thanks for participating in this blog. Leave feedback wherever you wish. I look forward to hearing comments and fielding questions along the way!

God Bless!
Erin

Hobie

A periwinkle fleece with light blue lettering and satin. This blanket turned out beautifully, but then there was no doubt it would as the colors were selected by my dear friend Devon who is one of the most gifted designers I know.

Lukie B

This is the second blanket of the two my sister ordered. I finished it last night. I absolutely love the charcoal and navy combination. This is the first charcoal colored blanket I've done. Colleen special ordered this fleece, so I received it from the company on Monday. I pray Lukie B. is blessed by it. And I look forward to doing more blankets in this color! It's Beautiful!

Recent fabric collection additions

These are all of my quilts that I have pictures for. I recently completed a King Size Shabby Chic style quilt with matching European Shams that I love. Eventually I'll have that one posted as well.

Today's production

I made this today for the daughter of a friend of Colleen's. This is probably my favorite color combination. I'm really going to miss this lettering fabric when its gone. The color and the style of the plaid is wonderful. I hope you all like it!
